In Clockwork Orange it uses Camera, editing techniques, Mise-en-scene and sound to really bring out the themes and make the whole film look psychotic. For example The film starts with a close up of the guy. His make up and the way he is looking really starts of how the audience view the film. He has one fake eyelash on one eye, a bowler hat and is looking down so we can see all his the impurities o his face, all together this makes him look really mentally unstable and very psychotic. After this there is a very slow zoom out of the guy and we see that it is focused on him so we know he is the main character. As it zooms out he raises a glass of milk and this makes no seance to the audience bringing out the theme of how odd everything is. The people he is sitting with are wearing the same as him which tells us they are part of a gang and they are all slouched which tells us they are drunk or drugged. The environment confirms our thoughts as it zooms out a little more and we can see the strange environment. The film then cuts to a long shot of the gang members walking and talking. One of them is holding a baseball bat which connotes danger and appending violence. As they are walking we can see their shadows which are exaggerated in size due to the camera angle of it being a low show which can tell us they are powerful and encourages mystery. There is a non dietetic voice over in the background explaining the situation allowing us to decode the situation. The camera then zooms into a drunk guy on the floor and him holding a beer bottle and his dirty black fingers with cigarettes beside him which shows us the themes of alcohol and smoking. There is also a dietetic sound of a drunk guy on the floor. The slow cuts build up tension making it more violent and interesting.
The guy singing is played before we actually see the guy which allows us to think about what is coming next and guess keeping the audience interested.
