Run-through review

I think that our run through was a good way or giving us a real idea of how the actual thing is going to go. It gave us an insight of things we want to and don't want to incorporate.
We wanted to film the most important parts of our opening scene to see how we would act them and how they would turn out on camera.

We decided to start with the eye at the beginning. We filmed a close-up of the eye as we wanted this to be the first thing you see. When filming this, we told the actor to heavily breath to create the effect of desperateness and hopelessness. I like the way it turned out however watching it back, I think that the eye should be blinking and nervously looking in different directions to create more tension and create more build up throughout that clip.

We then cut to the scene where the girl is lying down on the floor, and suddenly awakens. This has to be very sudden and shocking for her and therefore we filmed it with a high angle. We want the audience to feel like this girl has no power and that she is trapped and we thought filming from this angle, would help us give off those intentions.

The next thing we did was pan across the room. We filmed it quite fast but we want to do it slower to create allow the viewers inspect the surroundings. The reason we pan across the room is to show the space that she is in, and to show how small and dirty she is, allowing the audience to figure out more about the location and what is happening.

After this, we filmed a main aspect of our piece, which reveals a lot and involves a lot of our deeper thought. The roses bring out the psychological side of our opening scene. We have the roses there at this angle to show their dominance and importance to the scene. Autem has lots of different emotions but love is the only one he is missing, and we use the roses to represent this.

The next thing we filmed was the girl using the wall to help herself up. We wanted to film this at a medium shot with the camera very straight on, so we can focus on her actions, we want a clear shot that she is struggling so the audience can see she is in pain.

We had to be resourceful of the things we had around us, the run-through is missing quite a lot, however, when properly filming, we are going to have more props and the location which we are going to film will be far more creepy and dark and will look more run down. For now, when doing the run-through, we had to improvise with the things we had around us.

Next, we did a panning shot to show the scene had changed. In the next part of our thriller opening scene, was when Autem and the girl meet. We don't ever actually see Autem so got Yehuda to talk over the camera lines from the script.

We then filmed the girl standing up and looking side to side, we film this from the side of her face, which creates closeness and tension.

By filming our run-through of our opening sequence, it helped us think about a lot of aspects. It gave us a sense of the time scale and how much footage we will need to use in a certain amount of time. It also made us aware of how important sound is and how without it the sequence might be boring.
