This is a quick survey we asked students from around the school from all the different years. We explained to them our idea so far, and gave them some exemplar photos that we found from the internet just to help them visualise the aesthetics and scenery.
Group 1
Group 1
The first group of people we asked for feedback explained to us that they liked the lighting aspect of our opening scene. They said that the aspects of the darkness created a spooky dark atmosphere, and hints of colour, like orange and blue, would helped to create a mood of mystery which involves them when watching. When asking people for feedback many of them mentioned how they liked the coloured lighting idea, we therefore decided that the lighting impacted the opening sequence greatly so we thought we would take the feedback into consideration and emphasis the aesthetics by integrating more coloured lighting.
Person 1
The person I asked said that they like how there is a mysterious character and that you can’t see their face so you get to picture your own idea of what he looks like. They said it was "compelling and gets the audiences blood pumping and creates the rush and tension" that people like to see when watching thriller/horrors. I think the effect of having a mysterious character draws the audience in and interests them, as they want to learn more about the figure and find out why he acts like he does. We wanted this effect, and therefore in our opening scene we will stick to the idea that they are never going to see what he looks like but they will have glimpses of parts of his body, like hands or feet.
Group 3
They explained how having it in an enclosed space, makes them feel claustrophobic amplifying the sense of fear. The mental asylum gives an interesting unusual setting. We thought a lot about where we were going to set the opening scene, as we think that the setting is a very important aspect as it where the first assumptions are made.
Group 4
The next group of people we spoke to commented on the props that we are going to include in our opening scene. They said it influenced the dramatic effectiveness of the film. They suggested we use sugar glass to make sure our scene is safe. And maybe, to add a deeper psychological effect to the film, we should add roses because the roses red colour represent love but with the contradictory genre of the film it is viewed as blood, this contrast can emphasis fear and gruesomeness. We really like this suggestion and will definitely integrate it somehow.
